Vi erbjuder tre ettåriga program som tillsammans utgör en bred och solid biblisk grund både för pastorskandidater och andra studenter. Du kan välja att gå ett eller alla tre program i en följd, eller välja en enskild kurs som intresserar dig.
Varje kurs ges på engelska, av erfarna och akademiskt meriterade pastorer.
Theological Foundations
Creation, Covenants, and Christ: An Introduction to the Old Testament
The Law, the Prophets, and the Writings are part of a cohesive story that points to Jesus, Son of David and Son of God. This course will survey the Old Testament with a focus on its theological emphases. Attention will be given to the historical background, purpose, message, structure, and themes of each Old Testament book, to see the details that tie the biblical narrative together and understand the promises God both makes and keeps through his Son.
The Christ, the Cross, and the Church: An Introduction to the New Testament
The New Testament details God’s unfolding promises in Jesus’s life, death, resurrection, and ascension. This course will survey the New Testament with a focus on its theological emphases. Attention will be given to the historical background, authorship, provenance, audience, purpose, and themes of each NT book to understand how the gospel of the kingdom of God shapes the church and its mission.
The Good Confession 1: God and Scripture
What comes to mind when we think about God and his works is the most important thing about us. This course will survey foundational Christian doctrines in order to understand and preserve the faith once for all delivered to the saints. The doctrines of God, Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and angels will be studied, all to deepen loving devotion and witness to the triune God.
The Good Confession 2: Man, Sin, and Salvation
Our beliefs about God and His plan of salvation are central to the Christian faith and shape our understanding of ourselves and the world. This course will explore essential doctrines related to humanity, sin, the person and work of Christ, salvation, the Church, and the ultimate destiny of all things. By examining these core teachings, students will grow in their understanding of the gospel and be equipped to live and witness to the truth of God’s redemptive work, strengthening their devotion to the triune God.
The Church
From Eden to Eternity: The Grand Narrative of Scripture
Every sentence of the Bible must be understood in light of the whole. This course will explore the grand narrative of Scripture, tracing the work of God as it unfolds in creation, the fall, redemption, and finally in the consummation and restoration of all things in the new creation.Other themes (e.g., the King and the kingdom, law and grace, the true God versus idols, worship and the sanctuary, justice and judgment) will also be considered.
The Church Through the Ages: Councils, Reformation, and Renewal
The church’s story is a testimony to God’s faithfulness in preserving His people through every age. This course will survey key developments in church history, from the early ecumenical councils and creeds to the Reformation and its transformative legacy, to the rise of evangelicalism and challenges posed by liberalism. Attention will be given to the historical contexts, theological debates, and enduring significance of these movements and events, all to understand how God has guided His church to proclaim the gospel faithfully in every generation.
The Church: Gathered, Governed, and Led
The church of Jesus Christ should reflect the very character of God. Far from being pragmatic and incidental, then, the leadership and organization of the church is profoundly significant. This course will explore the doctrine of the church, giving attention to the church’s essence and nature and asking who belongs to it, how it is governed and led, and what symbols shape and bind it together, with an eye toward strengthening churches who will display and declare the gospel.
The Mission of the Church: Evangelism, Discipleship, and Missions
The church exists to glorify God by making disciples of all nations. This course will focus on §the mission of the church, emphasizing gospel growth within the congregation and gospel movement beyond it. Attention will be given to fostering a culture of intentional discipleship and leadership development, equipping believers for evangelism, and mobilizing the church for local and global missions. Students will explore biblical foundations, assess current trends, and examine best practices to ensure that the church remains faithful and effective in proclaiming the gospel to its neighborhoods and the nations.
Ministry & Leadership
Christ-Centered Interpretation: Exegesis and Hermeneutics
All Scripture bears witness to Christ, revealing the glory of His person and work. This course will train students in Christ-centered hermeneutics, equipping them to interpret and apply the Bible in light of its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the unity of Scripture, tracing key themes through the biblical storyline, analyzing the genre of the text of Scripture, and recognizing how every text points to Christ. Students will develop skills to faithfully read Scripture in a way that magnifies Christ and deepens the church’s worship of the triune God.
Christ-Centered Biblical Teaching: Sermon Preparation and Delivery
Faithful preaching magnifies Christ and transforms lives. This course will equip students to prepare and deliver sermons that faithfully exposit Scripture and proclaim Christ. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the text within its biblical and redemptive context, crafting clear and compelling messages, and communicating with conviction, clarity, and pastoral care. Students will explore practical aspects of sermon development, including structure, illustrations, and application, with an eye toward forming preachers who declare the whole counsel of God and glorify Christ in their teaching.
Gospel-Driven Ministry and Leadership
A leader’s sufficiency is Christ and his gospel—not himself. This course will explore how the gospel shapes every aspect of ministry, from leading yourself to leading others. It will confront the dangers of ministry leadership and cast vision both for personal soul care and intentional congregational shepherding, with the aim of forming leaders who preach, pray, love, and stay with their churches and/or ministries.
Counseling and Care of Souls
In a fallen world we experience many bitter fruits—humans who sin and are sinned against, sickness and mental illness, and as a result, brokenness and pain. This course will provide a biblical framework for understanding and caring for wounded and hurting people. Attention will be focused on providing foundational concepts and knowledge of healthy relationships, life stages, loss, and grief. Issues such as anxiety and depression, addiction, abuse, and mental health will be covered.
Fysiska möten i varje kursmodul
Varje kurs ges i modulform, vilket innebär att vi möts fysiskt på en kursgård under fyra dagar (onsdag eftermiddag till lördag förmiddag) där vi ger ett tjugotal lektioner och har alla måltider och kvällar gemensamt. Det är alltså undervisningsintensiva dagar men där vi även har möjlighet att lära känna varandra, umgås och samtala om livsnära tillämpningar av kursens innehåll. Mellan modulerna sker läsning och skrivuppgifter.
Vi erbjuder alltså inte distansundervisning eftersom vi uppfattar att den okroppsliga undervisningen underminerar den karaktärsdanande kunskapssyn vi omfattar.
Varje lärare är också erfaren pastor
Vi vill genuint vara en resurs för hälsosamma församlingar, vilket innebär att vi är helt inriktade på att bidra med utbildning som syftar till att inte bara ge information utan att forma studentens karaktär – oavsett om studenten är pastorskandidat eller inte. Det innebär att alla lärare inte bara är akademiskt meriterade utan också är verksamma pastorer som vill lära känna varje student och vara till hjälp i dennes kristna vandring.
Varför namnet Wiberg?
Anders Wiberg var den lutherska prästen från Hälsingland som kom till baptistiska övertygelser och döptes av den svenska baptistpionjären FO Nilsson 1852. Han reste till Amerika för att fördjupa sin teologiska kunskap och när han återvände till Sverige 1855 var han med och bildade Stockholms 1:a Baptistförsamling och blev en samlande gestalt i bildandet av församlingar och att utbilda ledare i den växande rörelsen.
På baptisternas årskonferens 1861 föreslog han att en teologisk utbildning skulle grundas för att stärka rörelsens framtid, vilket fick till resultat att Betelseminariet grundades 1866 i Stockholm. Han författade flera teologiska verk och lämnade ett rikt arv som vi vill ta upp och förvalta för kommande generationer.
Värderingar
Vi vägleds av flera övertygelser, utöver de teologiska övertygelser som sammanfattas i de trosbekännelser vi håller till, och som ger Wibergseminariet sin särprägel.
– Den lokala församlingen. Wibergseminariet tillhandahåller inte en pastorsutbildning. Däremot är det en resurs för den lokala församlingen i dess arbete att forma Kristi efterföljare, varav somliga blir pastorer. Seminariet bidrar med expertis och fördjupning som många enskilda församlingar saknar. Hälsosamma församlingar tränar lärjungar – Wibergseminariet hjälper till.
– En historiskt förankrad kunskapssyn. Även om varje kurs är akademiskt robust stannar det inte vid läsning av litteratur och skrivuppgifter. Vi vill, tillsammans med den lokala församlingen, ge studenten teoretisk kunskap såväl som forma dess karaktär och dana dess livsförmåga (vad Bibeln kallar för vishet). Det innebär att varje kurs är utformad för att studenten ska
• Fördjupas i kärlek till den Treenige Guden
• Växa i Kristuslikhet genom Andens kraft
• Förankras i den sunda lära som hör till gudsfruktan
• Utvecklas i sin förmåga att tydligt artikulera den tro som en gång för alla överlämnats till de heliga
• Mogna i sin förmåga att troget bygga upp och vårda Kristi församling.
– Kristocentrisk läsning av Bibeln. För att rätt förstå vad en specifik bibeltext betyder räcker det inte med att läsa den i sitt historiska och litterära sammanhang. Vi måste också förstå den teologiskt. Vi läser alltså Bibeln tillsammans med apostlarna och tolkar både Gamla och Nya testamentet med Kristus och evangeliet i centrum.
– Konfessionell teologi. Även om vi är övertygade att många studenter kommer att utmanas i sina tänkesätt vill vi tydligt bekräfta att vi är djupt rotade i en lång tradition där vi förvaltar den lära som en gång för alla överlämnats till de heliga. Vi vill verka för en reformation i Sverige, där kyrkan förs till den apostoliska grund hon är avsedd att vara. Det innebär att vår undervisning kan verka både banbrytande och provocerande, men är i själva verket samma sak som den sanna kyrkan har undervisat i alla tider.
